"People don't want to be the worst" was a central theme of my 2016 book The Tyranny of Doubt: Why Is Our Society so Hard to Fix? by William R. McDonough in 2012. In this book, R.J. Evans argues that our political system is more flawed and unfair than we realize: that there are so many people out there capable of a good life that we can't be them. In fact, many of us simply aren't.

Evans' "proud statement of how he grew up as a Catholic and attended a Catholic church was that he and I lived through times like those that had given rise to the worst, in which a child who didn't have friends and family came along and started destroying the family itself, forcing people to live with their parents, and then going on to destroy our country."

This is what the Catholic Church's doctrine says. In my book, it also states in detail that we can't be morally evil, because "it just doesn't make sense to be evil in a way that justifies doing evil." This "no moral principle can be perfect." In actuality, our best "moral" way of being can be to become immoral, and vice versa.

Evans also explained what it means for a social justice movement
